När man kommer in i Mobergland i Minnesota på Highway 8 från väster kommer man först till Chisago City.

When you enter Mobergland, Minnesota on Highway 8 from the west, you first come to Chisago City.

Vid infarten i Moberg Park möter oss Vilhelm Moberg med sin cykel. Skaparen av statyn, skulptören Ian Dudley, håller Ville sällskap.

Årligen firas Ki-Chi-Saga Days i Chisago City. För många år sedan deltog jag i lutfiskkastartävlingen vid det firande. Jag vann inte. Jag tror det till råga på allt var en dansk som vann. Årets firande kommer att gå av stapeln 19 - 22 augusti (2021).

Ki-Chi-Saga Days are celebrated annually in Chisago City. Many years ago, I participated in the Lutfisk throwing competition at the celebration. I did not win. I think to top it all, it was a Dane who won. This year's celebration will take place on 19 - 22 August (2021).

Ett år besökte två av Vilhelm Mobergs döttrar Moberg Park. Jag tror det var i samband med statyns avtäckelse. Det är damerna i mitten av fotot, flankerade av mig och min fru Chris (Karl Oskar och Kristina).

One year, two of Vilhelm Moberg's daughters visited Moberg Park. I think it was in connection with the unveiling of the statue. They are the ladies in the middle of the photo, flanked by me and my wife Chris (Karl Oskar and Kristina).

Nästa stad vi kommer till är Lindström. För många många år sedan möttes vi då av stadens polischef, Kevin Stenson. Han har nu blivit lite äldre och är staden Lindström's borgmästare. Notera polisbilens målning och dekal. De lokala poliskårerena i Chisago City och Lindström har nu slagits ihop till Lakes Area Police Department.

The next town we come to is Lindström. Many, many years ago, we were met by the city's police chief, Kevin Stenson. He has now gotten a little older and is the city of Lindström's mayor. Note the police car's painting and decal. The local police forces in Chisago City and Lindström have now been merged into the Lakes Area Police Department.

Lindström har sina egna årliga festligheter i form av Karl Oskar Days med bland annat en parad. För många år sedan tog Frihetsgudinnan (Alice Mortenson) emot invandrarna som kom med båt. Kristina och Karl Oskar sitter i fören på båten. I år går de av stapeln 7-11 Juli (2021).

Lindström has its own annual festivities in the form of Karl Oskar Days with, among other things, a parade. Many years ago, the Statue of Liberty (Alice Mortenson) welcomed the immigrants who came by boat. Kristina and Karl Oskar are sitting in the bow of the boat. This year they happen 7-11 July (2021).

Alldeles söder om Lindström ligger Nya Duvemåla, eller Karl Oskars Hus som det kallas lokalt. Ibland har man matfrämmande där. Några har turen att få sitta i skuggan av Kristinas Astrakanäppelträd.

Just south of Lindström is Nya Duvemåla, or the Karl Oskar House, as it is called locally. Sometimes there are have lunch guests there. Some are lucky enough to sit in the shade of Kristina's Astrakhan apple tree.

Kärntruppen vid Nya Duvemåla har julfest i Verkstan. Arild, Gary, Marty, jag, Marilyn, Charlie, Betty, Carla, Gloria.

The core team at Nya Duvemåla has a Christmas party in the workshop. Arild, Gary, Marty, me, Marilyn, Charlie, Betty, Carla, Gloria.

Vilhelm Mobergs släkt hade släktträff och besökte Nya Duvemåla. Vilhelm Mobergs dotterdotter Viveca Vilhelmsson ledde gruppen.

Den tredje staden vid Moberg Trail (Highway 8) är Center City. Där firar man Center City Days. (Jag kan ine hitta årets datum). Där har jag också deltagit i paraden i en båt. Karl Oskar och det årets Kristina färdades i Rotarys gamla båt.

The third city on the Moberg Trail (Highway 8) is Center City. Center City Days are celebrated there. (I can not find the dates for this year). There I have also participated in the parade in a boat. Karl Oskar and that year's Kristina traveled in Rotary's old boat.

Det var också allmänt fika vid Chisago Lake Lutheran Church. Obelisken i bakgrunder är rest till minne av de första svenskarna som bland annat grundade kyrkan.

There was also fika at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church. The obelisk in the background is erected in memory of the first Swedes who, among other things, founded the church.

För många år sedan dansade Ki-Chi-Saga Swedish Folkdancers i Mobergland. Kan den svenska kulturen få en pånyttfödelse i Mobergland med en förening, en folkmusikgrupp och ett folkdanslag? Jag hoppas få se det, eller åtminstone något av det, innan jag dör.

Many years ago, Ki-Chi-Saga Swedish Folkdancers danced in Mobergland. Can Swedish culture be reborn in Mobergland with an association, a folk music group and a folk dance group? I hope to see it, or at least some of it, before I die.
