Vi är inne i försommaren nu. En härlig tid med spirande grönska och blommor i stort sett överallt. 

Francine och jag gick förbi det här ymnigt blommande trädet på vår promenad. Med min ytterst bristande biologikunskap så gissar jag att det är ett paradisäppelträd. Här kallas det Crabapple tree.

Vi hade ett Crabapple tree på tomten där vi bodde för många år sedan. En sensommarstorm fällde det trädet, som var fullt med små äpplen. Vi tyckte det var synd att inte ta vara på de små äpplena, så vi samlade ihop dem och så gjorde Chris äppelmos av allt. Det blev riktigt gott och vi åt det till frukostfilen.

We have arrived at early summer now. It is a wonderful season with everything turning green and blooming.

Francine and I passed this tree in full bloom on our walk. With my very limited biology knowledge I guess it is a Crabapple tree.

We had a Crabapple tree in one of the places where we lived several years ago. One late summer storm uprooted the tree, which was full with small apples. We thought it would be a shame to let the apples rot, so we gathered them and then Chris made apple sauce of it all. The apple sauce was really good, and we ate it with our breakfast yoghurt.

Himmel och hav och mitt emellan ligger Stockholm, mina drömmars stad. Staden på vattnet. Nordens Venedig.

Jag har alltid gillat Stockholm. Det är något visst med den staden. Miljön med Gamla Stan, allt vatten, Söders höjder, Centrum med Centralstationen, NK varuhuset, Sergels Torg, Kungliga Slottet, Skärgårdsbåtarna, Humlegården, Skansen, Alla museer, Gröna Lund, Torghandeln framför Operahuset, Vetekatten, Gärdet, Zum Franziskaner, Tunnelbanan,

Jag har haft nöjet att jobba i Stockholm under några år. Mitt i centrum. I kvarteret norr om centralstationen. Visserligen bodde jag i Uppsala och tågpendlade till Stockholm. På den tiden tog det 47 minuter att med tåg förflytta sig mellan städerna. Så i princip var det ju nästan som att bo i någon av Stockholms förstäder.

Nu är det väl dock tveksamt om jag någonsin mer kommer att sätta min fot i Stockholm. Men sitta och drömma om "Mina drömmars stad" är ju mig tillåtet.

Light blue sky and dark blue water, and in between the city of Stockholm. The city on the water. The Venice of the North.

I have always liked Stockholm. It is something special to that city. The Old Town, all water, the Southern Hills,the center with the Central Railroad Station, NK Department store, Sergel's Square, the Royal Castle, the ferry boats, the parks of Humlegården and Skansen, all museums, Gröna Lund amusement park, the farmers market in front of the Opera House, the coffe house Vetekatten, the open space of Gärdet, the restaurant Zum Franziskaner, the Subway.

I have had the pleasure of working in Stockholm a few years. In down town. In the block just north of the Central Railway Station. However I lived in Uppsala and commuted by rail to Stockholm. At that time the commute was 47 minutes. So it was just like I would have lived in one of the suburbs of Stockholm.

It is however doubtful if I ever more will set down my foot in Stockholm. But sitting dreaming about "The city of my dreams" must be allowed for me to do.

Selfie är kort och gott ett foto man tagit av sig själv. Sådana foton har förekommit ända sedan fotografins barndom. De tidigare selfie fotona tog man genom att fota sin spegelbild. Med den allt snabbare och modernare fototekninken så håller man helt enkelt kameran på rak arm riktad mot sitt eget ansikte. Man kan även ta dem med armen sträckt uppåt så man får med mera av kroppen och så vidare.

Selfie har blivit väldigt populärt i Facebook och liknande sociala media. Francine har länge velat ha en selfie där ute i cyberrymden. Jag är inte med i Facebook, men min fru Chris är och Francine skall be henne att sätta in den här selfien där. Francine ser gärna att vänstra delen av fotot (mitt ansikte) klipps bort, men jag vet inte om Chris klarar av såna finesser. Jag har sagt åt Francine att hennes ansikte är så mycket vackrare när man har mitt ansikte att jämföra med. Visst håller ni med om det?

Selfie is simply a photo you have taken of yourself. Such photos have been around since the beginning of photography. The first selfies were taken of ones mirror image. With the faster and modern photo technique you simply keep the camera on a stretched out arm pointing at your own face. You can also take the selfies with your arm stretched upwards to capture more of your body and so on.

Selfie photography has become very popular in Facebook and other social media. Francine has for a long time wanted to have a selfie out there in cyber space. I do not do Facebook, but my wife Chris does and Francine is going to ask her to put this selfie there. Francine would like the left side of the photo (my face) cut out, but I do not know if Chris can manage to do that. I have told Francine that her face is so much more beautiful when you have my face to compare it to. Don't you agree?.

Panik! Redan söndag kväll och jag har inte skrivit veckans blogg

och vet inte vad jag skall skriva om.

Jag bläddrar i gamla fotoarkiv och hittar ett foto som passar bra in med det uttryck som förknippas med den gamla svenska kokboksförfattarinnan Cajsa Warg: "Man tager vad man haver och lagar därav en smaklig måltid" Hon vände sig här till den mindre bemedlade befolkningen med råd och tips hur de kunde tillaga god och närande mat med de knappa medel som de hade till sitt förfogande.

Fotots rubrik blir dock: "Man tager vad man haver och bygger därav ett hus". Fotot är taget i Gamla Stan i Stockholm och man kan se att som husbyggnadsmaterial har använts så väl ett gammalt kanonrör som en runsten och vanliga tegelstenar.

Panic! It is already Sunday evening, and I have not written this week's blog and do not even know what to write about.

I am looking through old photo archives and find a photo that fits in good with the saying that is attributed to the old Swedish cook book author Cajsa Warg: "You take what you have and create from that a good meal". She addressed mainly the poorer part of the population and gave them advise and hints about how to prepare good and nurturing food using the sparse resources they had.
