Sommarens sista groda? Häromdagen satt den här grodan på vårt verandaräcke. Vi har inte många grodor runt vårt hus. Det är inget vatten i direkt anslutning till huset, men vi har sett några stycken i alla fall.

De flesta grodorna vi ser är de små gröna lövgrodorna. De kan vara svåra att upptäcka där de sitter på sina löv och det är precis samma gröna färg på både grodor och löv.

Jag har även sett någon enstaka stor padda på baksidan av huset där vattenslangen läcker i en koppling och det alltid är fuktigt. Och så har jag sett en och annan groda likt den på bilden under sommaren. Men nu är det så kallt under nätterna att grodan på bilden förmodligen är sommarens sista groda.

Under vinterhalvåret kan vi dock njuta av sällskapet av underhållningsgrodorna Grodan Boll och Kermit the Frog. Båda dessa VIP grodor skapades under mitten av nittonhundratalet.

Den svenska Grodan Boll blev känd tillsammans med sin kompanjon Kalle Stropp som en radioteaterserie och senare även genom bilderböcker, tecknade filmer och tecknade serier.

Den amerikanska Kermit the Frogg är mest känd som värden i TV serien The Muppet Show. Vi har några avsnitt av The Muppet Show på DVD. Kanske skall vi titta på ett avsnitt i kväll.

The last frog of the summer? The other day this frog sat on our porch railing. We do not have many frogs around our house. There is no water close by, but we have seen some frogs anyhow.

Most frogs we see are the small green tree frogs. It is difficult to spot them where they sit on their leaves especially as it is exactly the same color on both the leaf and the frog.

I have even seen one or two bull frogs at the back of our house where there is a leak in a coupling for our water hose and the ground most of the time is moist. And then I have seen a few frogs like the one in the picture during the summer. But now it is so cold during the nights that the frog in the picture probably is the last frog for the summer.

During the winter we can however enjoy the company of the entertainer frogs Grodan Boll and Kermit the Frog. Both these VIP frogs were created in the middle of the twentieth century.

The Swedish Grodan Boll (Boll the Frog) was known together with his companion Kalle Stropp through a radio series and later also through picture books, animated movies and comic strips.

The American Kermit the Frog is most well-known as the host in the TV series The Muppet Show. We have a few of those shows on DVD. Maybe we'll watch one of those shows tonight.
