1976 skulle min kusin Kerstin åka till Japan via den Transsibiriska järnvägen. Chris och jag följde henne en bit väg till Moskva. / 1976 my cousin Kerstin was going to travel to Japan via the Trans Siberian Railway. Chris and I accompanied her part of the way to Moscow.

Om vi fortfarande var törstiga när vi kom fram till Moskva kunde vi köpa kvass i automater. Det fanns ett dricksglas i varje automat att dricka ur och sedan ställa tillbaka för nästa kund. Tur att lukten inte förmedlas via fotot. / If we still were thirsty when we arrived in Moscow, we could buy kvass from vending machines. There was a glass at each vending machine to drink from and then put back for next customer. Luckily the smell can not be carried via a photo.

Kerstin gynnade den lokala privata kommersen ganom att väga sig / Kerstin patronized the local private business by weighing herself.

Tsarens kanon. Jag undrar om det verkligen gick att skjuta med den och i så fall hur träffsäkerheten var / The Tsars canon. I wonder if it could be used for shooting and if so, how the precision was.

Som turister från väst hade vi flott bil med egen guide/chaufför/övervakare. Han ville inte vara med på bilden men syns i högerkanten. / As tourists from West, we had a nice car with guide/driver/"guard". He did not want to be in the picture, but you can see him to the right.

Leningradstationens väntsal varifrån vi tog tåget tillbaka till Helsingfors. / Leningradsky Rail Terminal from where we took the train back to Helsinki.

Vi såg Viborg slott på avstånd. Sverige förlorade Viborg till Ryssland i 1710-års krig. /

We saw Vyborg castle in a distance. Sweden lost Vyborg to Russia in the war of 1710.
