Tomaterna överlevde de kalla nätter vi just haft. Jag tog en chansning att inte täcka över dem och det gick vägen. Ärligt talat var jag för lat för att först försöka hitta några lämpliga tygstycken och sedan täcka över tomaterna för att sedan morgonen därpå gå ut och samla ihop tygstyckena och lägga dem någonstans för nästa gång jag behöver dem.

I alla fall är jag väldigt nöjd med årets tomater, trots att jag var tveksam när jag köpte dem. Jag fick ju fyra plantor för bara två dollar. Hittills har vi skördat 23 goda, fina tomater och det finns minst tjugo till som om inte frosten tar dem blir färdiga inom den närmaste tiden. Det betyder att de hittills kostat oss under 10 cent stycket och om alla andra mognar går priset ner till under 5 cent. Fantastiskt!

Vi har inte gjort något annat än att lägga lite naturlig kompost på plantorna och så vattnat varje kväll. Tomaterna är riktigt fina och goda. De smakar som jag minns tomater smakade i min barndom.

Dags att gå ut och plocka en eller två till kvällsmaten.

The tomatoes survived the chilly night we just have had. I took a chance not to cover them and it worked. To be honest I was too lazy to first find some suitable cloth and then cover the tomatoes just to go out next morning to uncover the plants and stash the fabric somewhere until next time I might need it.

I am very happy with this years tomatoes, even though I was somewhat hesitant when I bought them. I got four plants for only two dollar. So far we have harvested 23 nice, tasty tomatoes and there are at least twenty more, which if the frost do not get them, are going to ripen in the near future. That means that they so far has cost us less than 10 cent each and if all the other also ripen the price will go down to under 5 cent. Fantastic!

We have not done anything else but put some natural compost around the plants and then watered them every night. The tomatoes are really nice and tasty. They taste like the tomatoes tasted in my youth.

Time to go out and pick a tomato or two for the evening meal.
