The Toblerone affair
In 1995 it was revealed that the Swedish politician Mona Sahlin had bought, among other things, two bars of Toblerone using her Riksdag credit card (i.e. taxpayer's money). This became known as the Toblerone affair. Sahlin was forced to step down as a candidate for the post as Prime Minister. She returned to politics in 1998”

(Liberal betyder något annat här än i USA).

Elections!
Although they are supposed to be important for democracy they are, look at the election campaigns closely, the politicians using their licences to tell lies without having to take any responsibility at all when, after the election, they do not fulfil their pre-election promises. Have you ever taken any of these politicians to task? Most people don't but should. The answer you get is that, since they promised you all these wonderful things, things have changed and therefore, bla, bla, bla, bla. Pure bull manure.
You know as well as I do that these pre-election farces are nothing else than when you and I went for a job interviews. The possible future bosses ask you their questions and you know very well what answers they want to hear. So that is what you give them. True they may be or not. And that is exactly what the politicians are doing when the campaign for their new jobs. I think job interviews would be a more appropriate expression than election campaign.
My old father-in-law who left us last year gave me this little Irish view on the subject.
When Election Day comes round and politicians need a job
what lovely people then they are and how they’ll open up their gob.
They’ll almost doff their coats, they will even promise heaven
but give you sheer hell if you don’t give them your vote.
What lovely things they’ll promise you before the polling day
house and snacks and barm-brack and fat goats milk for your tray.
In pushchairs to the polling booth the paralysed they’ll wheel
and they tell you, going along the road, how much for you they feel
and if you have a grievance of your case they’ll take an oath
but you hear no more about it when you given them your vote.
And a bleated 'Happy birthday' toy you, Sven.
Says Erik who has no license to tell lies.
