English Version
When you talk about high points in life, it can be many different situations and experiences you think of. Today I am going to ponder some of the high points regarding work environment.
When I begun working here in the US I begun on the very lowest point possible. The Import Office at Dayton's Department Stores was located in the Department Store building downtown Minneapolis. The most attractive floors were of course used as sales floors. Thus, the offices got the areas that was left over. The Import Office had gotten the area in the sub basement. An area we office rats shared with the real ones. This was the lowest possible point both in the geographical area and the area of work environment.
Thus, it could ony be better going forward. After some time I ended up on the seventh floor, which was the floor above the highest sales floor. The building had twelve floors. On the twelfth floor several restaurants were located, as well as the employee cafeteria.
Then I moved over to Dayton's daughter company, Target and ended, after some moving around, finally up on the thirty third floor in the newly built office tower. Now I have to say that I had reached my high point. I never made it higher than thirty three floors and I never had such a enjoyable and spacey work area with such an expansive view. I had a window table with a great view, so to say.
After this high point I only slid downwards again. When I reached the second floor again, I took the chance to retire. You have to quit while you are on the winning side. I did not want to end up among the rats in the sub basement again.
