English Version
I want to congratulate my wife, Chris, on her birthday May 20 with her favorite flower, Lily of the Valley.
However she only gets this photo of the flower. If she wants to look at Lily of the Valley live and in color she has to walk out on the south side of our house and look at the many Lilies of the Valley that are growing and thriving there in various stages of blooming. It is against my principles to unnecessarily pick flowers to keep in a vase indoors, where they fairly quickly will wilt. Out in the wild you can enjoy them much longer.
In addition the plant is poisonous. You can not eat any part of it and if you have the Lily of the Valley in a vase, you have to be careful when you pour out the water. With all our cats in the house this is one more reason for me to let Chris enjoy the Lily of the Valley on a photo indoors.
The Swedish name "Liljekonvalj" is said to be a derivation of the Latin word Lilium Convallium, which means Valley-Lily. And this in turn is also the English name of the flower, Lily of the Valley.
Under all circumstances I congratulate you, Chris, on your birthday with a Lily of the Valley!
